I am a old fart with a foggy brain but I believe the # is 14' (or is that 14 1/4'?) that gets You down to a 80' wheelbaseI have always thought the fiberglass bodies were kind of silly and useless. The sand Rail seem to have greater possibility. This all made some sense when VW bugs were a dime a dozen (or less if you found one that had been rolled) but now that they are 25 years old and all rotted to hellit just looks like a silly waste of money. It's got to be way more cost effective to grab a 10 or 15 year old jeep and start pouring the money into that. You can go the open body route for good weather and close it up with soft or hard body for nasty weather.I was working in a city the other day and saw a flatbed with an old Willy's chained down. Cute little thing! With a bug it's going to be much much lighter, it has a air cooled engine and thats it, no AC, heater, or other crap to worry about. (No radiator or water), plus there is a huge after market part list for old beetles, also with old cars, in texas you don't have to have emission testing, which means no cats or other crap. If you had balls'o fire, they were great in the winter. Drive wheels and all the weight over the rear wheels, keeping the pan underneath wouldn't let it bog down in deep snow. Damn things would go anywhere. They were GREAT for fucking around on frozen lakes.
